Definition(s)

Foam (Phase System)

Two-phase system, similar to an emulsion, in which the dispersed phase is air or gas.

Foam (Floating Material)

Bubbles floating on the surface of the drilling fluid. NOTE The bubbles are usually air-cut drilling fluid but can be formation gasses.

Foam

Foam is generally defined as gas dispersed in liquid in a ratio such that its bulk density approaches that of gas rather than liquid. Pure liquids rarely foam when gassed.
