Pollutant

Any constituent that contaminates or alters the physical, thermal, chemical, or biological quality of water so as to be harmful, detrimental, or injurious to humans, animal life, vegetation, or property or to the public health, safety, or welfare, or that impairs the usefulness or the public enjoyment of the water for any lawful purpose.

Pollutant

Pollutant means any substance controlled by MARPOL which, if introduced into the sea, is liable to create hazards to human health, to harm living resources and marine life, to damage amenities or to interfere with other legitimate uses of the sea.
