Produced Water

Produced water includes formation water, injection water and process water that is extracted along with oil and gas during petroleum production. In addition, a portion of the chemicals added during processing of reservoir fluids may partition to the produced water. At most offshore production installations, this water is separated from the petroleum process stream and, after treatment, is discharged to the marine environment or disposed of in a subsurface formation. "Cubic foot of gas" means the volume of gas contained in one cubic foot of space at an absolute pressure of 14.65 pounds per square inch and at a temperature of 60°F. No flowing and/or gas-lift oil wells shall be permitted to produce with excessive gas/oil ratio, except where special orders are operative. Wells that are gas/lifted with gas from gas wells shall be prorated in the same manner as are hi-ratio naturally flowing oil wells, the G.O.R. being defined for this purpose as the total output gas less the total input gas divided by the number of barrels of oil produced. The uneconomic or unreasonable use of gas for gas-lift will not be permitted.
