Administration

Administration means the Government of the State under whose authority the ship is operating. With respect to a ship entitled to fly the flag of a State, the Administration is the Government of that State. With respect to fixed or floating platforms engaged in exploration and exploitation of the sea-bed and subsoil thereof adjacent to the coast over which the coastal State exercises sovereign rights for the purpose of exploration and exploitation of their natural resources, the Administration is the Government of the coastal State concerned. “A” class divisions (fire divisions)

‘A’ Class divisions are those divisions formed by bulkheads and decks which comply with the following criteria: (a) They are to be constructed of steel or other equivalent material. (b) They are to be suitably stiffened. (c) They are to be so constructed as to be capable of preventing the passage of smoke and flame up to the end of the one-hour standard fire test.
